Mozbar extension

Among all the SEO utilities that can be used to make things a little easier when managing web positioning, today we want to highlight the MozBar extension for Chrome, an additional Moz bar that analyzes the domain in which you are and offers you its metrics so you have an overview of that website.

One of the greatest advantages of this tool is that being installed in the browser itself, you will only have to click to instantly obtain relevant information about the web page you are visiting at that moment.
In this post, we are going to tell you what the MozBar extension is, how you can get it and how to take advantage of all the information it provides.

What is the MozBar SEO extension for Chrome?

It is a tool that is installed directly in the Google Chrome browser. In the past, it was also available for Mozilla Firefox but today, if you want to use the MozBar extension you will have to use Chrome on your computer.

This mozbar extension not only provides you with information about the web page you are currently visiting, but it will also display the metrics in Google search results. If you are preparing a link-building campaign, for example, this information will be very useful when you are looking for domains in which to acquire links. Remember, however, that to dig a little deeper you will need other tools such as DinoRANK 😉

How to install and activate the MozBar extension?

To install and activate the MozBar extension you can go directly to the Google Chrome extension repository by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner of the browser and following this path: More tools – Extensions. You can also go directly to the official Moz page that will take you to the Chrome repository.

You just have to click on the blue button that you will see on the right so that the extension is installed in your browser in a matter of seconds. You will see the Moz logo next to the address bar and you will have to press it to activate it. If you are not logged into your Moz account, it will ask you to do so in order to see the data.

How does the Moz bar work to analyze domains?

Now that you have MozBar installed and activated, we are going to tell you what its main metrics consist of since they are surely the ones that you will consult the most:

The Moz Domain Authority or DA is a number between 1 and 100 that measures the authority of the domain. To calculate it Moz takes into account factors such as the number and quality of the backlinks, the popularity of the website, the referring domains …

The Moz Page Authority or PA is a number between 1 and 100 that measures the authority of the specific page you are browsing. The Spam Score tells you the percentage of spam that a page contains, which is why it may be penalized by Google.

This is especially important if you are considering that website to buy links on it since if it has a high percentage of spam it has a good chance of being a “link farm”. In general, from 30% it is already remarkable and if it has more than 60%, forget about it.

If you click on the first icon, the one that shows the magnifying glass, you will see several tabs that contain different information: On-Page Elements Shows the general information of the web you are visiting: page title, meta description, H1 and H2, «alt» tags of the images …

General Attributes: it will show you if there are canonical URLs, meta robots, page load time, IP and country. Link Metrics: it will show you the PA and DA metrics that we have talked about before as well as the total number of links and how many of them are outbound do-follow links.

Mark Up: here you will see if the page has some type of markup in its content such as Schema, Open Graph, or Twitter Cards. HTTP Status: it will tell you what state the web is in 200 if everything is correct, 404 if the page is not found, 301 if it is a redirect …

As you can see, only this option is already providing you with fairly complete information about the general status of the website. But there is still more: click on the pencil icon and you will see the links on the page.

By selecting one option or another you will be able to distinguish which ones are do-follow, no-follow, internal, and external, which will allow you to check what their link-building strategy is. In addition, with the Highlight option, you can enter a keyword in the search box and highlight it in the text.

You can take advantage of all this information in many ways. One of them is to check the status of your own website: what may be failing and what you should improve. In the same way, you can see the metrics of the competition and the details of their websites to see how they are performing. Finally and as we have commented a little above, you can use MozBar to analyze the web pages in which you plan to buy links.
To end…

Although it is true that the information provided by MozBar can be superficial when it comes to doing SEO in a deeper way,

it does not stop offering useful data for free that you may need to consult at a specific time without having to resort to other tools. We believe that it is ideal to have it installed in the browser to make quick and punctual inquiries about a domain that we are seeing at that moment.

If you want to delve into the data that MozBar offers you, you can use SEO tools such as DinoRANK itself where you have the option of doing a complete SEO audit of a web page as well as analyzing everything related to keywords, links, content, and much more.

And you, do you already have MozBar installed in Chrome? How do you usually use it? Tell us about it right down here, in the comments.

Describe Moz Pro.

A well-known all-in-one SEO software package called Moz Pro has capabilities for enhancing search engine exposure. Link Explorer, Keyword Explorer, and Rank Tracker are important functions.

Key Elements

Explorer of Links (replaces OSE)

Open Site Explorer from Moz was recently replaced by Link Explorer.

Link Explorer for Moz
The original OSE was substantially unchanged, however this one has a MUCH larger index.

precisely 35.5 trillion connections

Let me demonstrate how it operates:

Start by entering your website or the website of a rival into the tool:

Link Explorer by Moz Input URL
You’ll also get a link profile report for that website:

Link Explorer by Moz – Report
Here is the meaning of everything on this page.

Our first metric is domain authority:

Domain authority in Moz Link Explorer
This is how Moz assesses the link authority of a whole site, not just a specific page.

The greater this score will be, therefore, the more highly regarded connections there are pointing to your website.

My Domain Authority is 67 as you can see.

On its own, this statistic doesn’t reveal anything.

However, you may easily assess how you measure up if you ALSO take a check at a competitor’s Domain Authority.

For instance, I can see that one of my SEO rivals’ Domain Authority is comparable to mine when I enter them into Link Explorer:

Domain Authority for WordStream in Moz Link Explorer
In light of this, I can probably rank for the same keywords that they do.

Let’s move on to “Linking Domains” now:

Domain linking using Moz Link Explorer
Again, on its own, this isn’t all that useful. However, it’s a fast and simple approach to compare your website to those of your rivals.

Comparing Moz connecting domains
“Top Pages,” the third important component of Link Explorer:

top pages in Moz
This measure displays a site’s pages with the greatest “page authority,” or “link authority,” according to Moz:

Top pages by page authority on Moz
Therefore, “Top Pages” is VERY beneficial if you want to know what kind of material has succeeded for your rival (in terms of backlinks).

A “Spam Score” is another feature of Moz’s Link Explorer.

Moz Spam Rating
Moz uses the “Spam Score” to assess how spammy a site’s links are.

For instance, my website has a 6% spam score:

Backlinko’s Moz spam score
By no means is this feature flawless. However, it does provide you with a general notion of the legitimacy of a site’s link profile.

Link Intersect comes last.

Link Intersect in Moz
Connect Intersect allows you to “discover which sites link to your rivals, but not to you,” as stated by Moz.

What makes this useful?

In any case, you DON’T want to contact websites that already link to you if you’re doing a link-building effort.

Instead, you should make contact with those who connect to rival websites… yet I still haven’t connected to you.

And Connection Intersect makes it simple to locate these link opportunities:

Backlinko, Moz, Link Intersect, and WordStream
Overall, Link Explorer lacks Ahrefs’ level of functionality. However, it’s a reliable tool that keeps getting better each month in terms of features and index size.

brand-new Web Explorer

In essence, Fresh Web Explorer is a tool for keeping track of brand mentions.

Fresh Web Explorer allows you to search for recent mentions, unlike the majority of programmes that only crawl the web passively and notify you when they discover one.

Fresh Web Explorer from Moz
This little feature is immensely helpful.

I have set up alerts for popular terms and keywords several times. only to have to wait days to hear back.

For instance, I wrote this article on mobile SEO a while ago.

Guide to Mobile SEO Post
And I was aware that I would want to share my new article with others who do the same.

For phrases like “Mobile SEO” and “Mobile Optimization,” however, I didn’t have an alert set up.

I can thus go straight to Moz and receive a list of mentions in 10 seconds without having to wait:

Moz’s latest “mobile SEO” notice is nice.

Fresh Web Explorer doesn’t locate as many references as I’d like, and that’s my main complaint.

For instance, Moz returns only one result when I search for “Backlinko” mentions over the last month.

Backlinko notice from Moz’s Fresh Web Explorer
Additionally, BuzzSumo discovered 10 mentions throughout the same period:

Fresh Web Explorer by Moz with a BuzzSumo alert
Therefore, Fresh Web Explorer is useful for link development and content marketing. However, it lacks the strength of other mention tracking solutions available on the market.

Keyword Finder

The finest component of Moz Pro overall is Keyword Explorer.

On the surface, Keyword Explorer functions similarly to the majority of other keyword research tools available.

The keyword is entered.

Keyword Explorer by Moz Get a list of metrics for the keyword you entered. and fresh keyword concepts.

Link building keyword results from Moz Keyword Explorer
So what distinguishes Keyword Explorer?

Three factors:

First, compared to most other tools, the monthly search volume figures are more accurate:

Monthly Volume for Moz Keyword Explorer
This is so that Moz doesn’t just grab information from Google Keyword Planner.

Instead, they estimate how many individuals really do a monthly search for that phrase using real user data.

Second, the additional metrics that you DO get are quite helpful.

On a single page, for instance, you may check the difficulty of a term and its organic CTR.

Moz assigns each phrase a “Priority Score” based on its keyword difficulty and organic click-through rate.

Priority Score feature in Moz Keyword Explorer
With the aid of Priority Score, it is simple to focus on keywords with the ideal ratio of search volume, organic CTR, and competitiveness.

Finally, Keyword Explorer is AMAZING for coming up with fresh keyword suggestions.

You also don’t simply obtain straight-up variants of the same term, unlike most other programmes.

For instance, a few long-tail variations of the term “Paleo Diet” are among the keyword suggestions:

Create keyword suggestions with the Moz Keyword Explorer.
However, they also provide you with a number of keywords associated with that subject.

Related keywords in Moz Keyword Explorer
(And since most other keyword tools don’t list these “underground” phrases, they won’t be very competitive.)

Additionally, you may quickly add these phrases to keyword lists for subsequent analysis:

Search by site

This is SEMRush as it is used by Moz.

With those words:

It displays terms that are already being used by your competitors:

Moz site exploration
Additionally, filters make it simple to locate phrases with a certain search volume or level of competitiveness.

Using site filters, Moz explore
Web crawling

This is the SEO audit function that comes with Moz.

site crawl by Moz
Site Crawl provides a wonderful balance of powerful functionality and an easy-to-use user interface when compared to some other applications I’ve tested.

For instance, Site Crawl groups problems it discovers into “Critical” and “Warnings” categories:

Site Crawl Problem with Categories on Moz
In this manner, you may immediately identify and address significant technical SEO concerns.

The analysis goes beyond the typical “Page blocked by Robots.txt” material.

Additionally, Site Crawl tracks “Content Issues.” This report informs you of any thin, duplicate, or slowly loading material on your website.

Content difficulties with the Moz site crawler
Duplicate content and thin may be very difficult to spot, as anybody who has worked in the SEO industry for some time knows.

(In particular on large websites with hundreds of pages)

Finding these issues is made simple by “Content Issues.”

Score Tracker

A reliable rank monitoring tool is Moz’s Rank Tracker.

Rank Tracker by Moz
Yes, you can clearly see your Google ranking.

However, Moz also reveals how many keywords changed positions:

Movement of keywords in Moz Rank Tracker
Additionally, your general search visibility:

overall search visibility on Moz
The fact that this function only refreshes once a week is my sole complaint. Not a big issue, however it would be good to regularly monitor my keyword ranks.

Optimizing the Page

Optimizing a page is exactly what it sounds like:

It examines the on-page SEO of your website.

Enter a URL and a term you wish to rank for to utilise it:

Page Moz Optimization
You’ll also be given a “Page Score” overall.

Page Optimization Score for Moz
This score is an estimation of the page’s keyword optimization.

And it’s very accurate.

For instance, my analysis of this page’s “SEO Tips” optimization revealed that my content was effectively optimised for that term:

Moz’s piece on “Page Optimization” with “Actionable SEO Tips” was helpful.

The advice under “Hurting Your Score” wasn’t as wise, though:

Actionable Moz page optimization Posting SEO advice hurts
For instance, it said I was “keyword stuffing”…

Keyword stuffing on Moz’s page optimization… despite the fact that in 3,500 words I only mention my target keyword twice.

(Excluding the text in the comments)

So, there is no doubt it was a false positive.

Additionally, I might have liked more specific advice on how to solve any issues that arose.

For instance, the study said that “Optimal Use of Keywords in Header Tags” was one concern.

Moz: Using keywords effectively in header tags
However, it did not indicate if I had used two H1 tags on the page. or whether my lone H1 tag need improvement.

Fortunately, I am aware of how to manually verify this information. However, I can see how these suggestions may be quite perplexing to someone who is new to SEO.

Positively, “Content Suggestions” was really helpful:

Moz’s content recommendations
It is a list of subjects that are covered in-depth by high-ranking pages. And you could see an improvement in your rating if you include the same themes in your article.

For instance, Moz suggested that I discuss the following subtopics for the keyword “SEO Tips”:

keyword analysis
Backlinks from social media
Very impressive technical SEO

MozBar

MozBar is a Chrome addon that offers you link data (such Domain Authority and Page Authority) inside of the SERPs:

Mozbar SERPs
The MozBar’s free edition has a lot of restrictions.

However, comprehensive link and on-page SEO analytics data is available to Moz Pro members.

For example, when I search for “SEO tools”, I can see how the first page competition stacks up:

SERP For SEO Tools Using MozBar “Insights”

Insights are essentially a list of tasks you may do to improve the SEO of your website.

Google Insights
You get a TON of analytics and statistics with Moz Pro.

If you’re an expert in SEO and can comprehend everything, this is fantastic. However, the data in Moz Pro may quickly become overwhelming if you’re new to SEO.

Arise, insights.

You are given a list of urgent activities by Insights that will boost your organic traffic.

There may not be every SEO possibility on your website that insights can identify.

(For that, you’ll need an SEO expert.)

But it does draw attention to important issues.

For instance, grabbing the featured snippet for “SEO Tools” was the top suggestion for my website:

Advice from Featured Snippets in Moz Insights
I have a strong probability of having my material in the featured snippet since I’m number one for that phrase. strong suggestion

Additionally, it informed me of several of my website’s pages’ subpar mobile PageSpeed scores.

Given the significance of PageSpeed for SEO, I should probably improve this.

Pro Moz campaigns

Campaigns creates a dashboard with all the information from your Moz account:

Moz Pro advertising
If you handle SEO for several different customers, this is quite beneficial. You may obtain a high-level summary of each site’s SEO performance on a single page rather than logging in and out of Google Analytics.

Moz Pro Costs

Pricing for Moz starts at $99 per month for a “Standard” plan and goes all the way up to $999 per month for a “Premium” plan.

Moz Pro Costs
(The basic components of all four designs are the same. The primary variations relate to the number of keyword reports, page analyses, and keyword searches you may do each month.

How does the cost stack up against those of comparable goods (like SEMRush and Ahrefs)?

In contrast to Moz and Ahrefs, Moz’s lowest tier is a little less expensive.

(In addition, a complete 30-day free trial is included.)

Therefore, Moz Standard can be an excellent choice for you if you have a limited budget.

Moz Pro is an excellent offer when it comes to sheer value. Although it is much less expensive, it does not have as many features as Ahrefs.

Ahrefs could be the best choice if you’re an SEO expert. It costs more than Moz, but offers a bigger and more recent link index (plus a host of other cool features).

However, whether you’re new to SEO or a small company owner looking for a fantastic deal, a Moz Pro Standard package is the best option.
